Terry Cooper was born March 23, 1956, to the late Horace Cooper, Sr., and Mary Brown Cooper in Autauga County, Alabama.
Terry attended Autauga County public schools and was a 1974 graduate of Marbury High School.
Terry chose Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at Old Kingston Baptist Church in Prattville, Alabama.
T.C., as he was affectionately known, enlisted in the United States Army and served his country to four years with an honorable discharge. He later moved to Flint, Michigan and began working at Hurly Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. He furthered his education by obtaining a certification in air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration from Stewart Mett Community College in Flint, Michigan.
Terry later became the supervisor of maintenance at Hurley Medical Center, where he retired after over 30 years of employment. Terry relocated to Alabama in 2013.
Terry was a faithful member of Golden Rule Baptist Church where he was a Deacon in Flint, Michigan.
Terry reunited with Old Kingston and served until his health declined. Terry was a member of the Van Club of Flint, Michigan and was known as “Top Cat” Terry. He also had a passion for walking and participated in several 10 mile Crim races, and other local races while in Flint, Michigan.
Upon moving back home, Terry’s favorite pastime was laughing, joking, watching football, Steve Harvey, and Martin. Last but not least, he enjoyed spending time with family.
Terry was the proud owner of T Cooper Farm, LLC. Terry was truly a farmer at heart, and proud cattle owner. He was also a devoted member of American Legion Post #343.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tydes Whiten, and his loving parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
On Monday, July 29, 2024, God dispatched an angel to Baptist South, Montgomery, Alabama and said, “Servant of God, well done!”
Terry’s fond memories will be cherished by his loving daughter, Miyaka (Darrell) Cooper of Flint, MI; stepson, Mark Hayes; loving granddaughter, Malaysia Snell of Flint, MI, devoted siblings, Jerry Cooper, loving and caring sister Jacqueline Cooper, Horace O.
