SHELAND LAGUNIA WILSON was born on May 27,
1969, to the late Henry T. Wilson and Stella Mae Davis Wilson of
Maplesville, Alabama.
Sheland went to Isabella High School and
later attended Jefferson State Community College.
Our Heavenly Father saw fit that at 4:42 a.m. on November 12,
2025, while at University of Alabama Birmingham, Sheland
departed this earthly world and transcend to a peace that passes
all understanding.
Sheland was everything to everybody. Her sense of humor and
personality could light up any room. She was a shining light in
the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence
here on earth was one marked by strength, love, honesty, integrity,
compassion, and dependability.
Sheland was always on the go,
usually doing something for someone else, as she depicted so well
that of a servant’s heart. She loved to travel and vacation.
Sheland was the definition of strength and courage. She spent a
lot of time fighting battles as it related to her health, but she never
complained. “I don’t care how bad the situation looked,” she would
always say, “I’m alright.”
However, Sheland was not without fault. She could be overly
stubborn, and when she made up her mind about something,
you may as well forget it because you were not going to change
her mind. She was always good about giving instructions about
everything even down to this day. She loved to shop, and no matter
how many times we questioned her about shopping, she would cut
her eyes at you and keep right on while say, “Baby, I don’t walk
around looking bad.”
Sheland’s passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends,
and everyone that came in contact with her. We kindly ask that you
remember her not for how her life ended, but simply remember her
for the way that she lived, and for the profound impact it had on
the people around her. May Sheland’s memory be a blessing, and
may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that
we do.
Sheland was preceded in death by her parents, Henry T. Wilson
and Stella Mae Davis Wilson; brother, Edward Charles Wilson;
and sister, Charlotte Wilson Hill.
Sheland is survived by her sister, Carol Wilson of Maplesville,
Alabama; three aunts, Mary Pearl Roberson of Montgomery,
Alabama, Johnnie Mae Ayler of Branchburg, New Jersey, and
Dorothy (Ferdinand) Rutlege of Birmingham, Alabama; the apple
of her eye, Willie Keith of Montevallo, Alabama; and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Althought she was not a mother biologically, she played the role
for all of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She
loved celebrating birthdays and holidays.
