Rosie C. Garth was born on September 24, 1933, to Susie A. Cole and Melvin Cole, Sr., of Maplesville, Alabama.
Rosie transitioned on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a graduate of Chilton County High School and attended the Catholics Nursing School where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She retired from the State of Alabama as a LPN and as a Director of Nursing from Hatley’s Health Care.
Her passion was helping people regardless of their situation, spending time with her family and friends. She was well-known by the community for being herself.
Rosie was preceded in death by her son, Michael Houle, of Clanton, AL; two brothers, Otis Hill, Jr., and Melvin Cole, Jr.; seven sisters, Mary Hooks, Arlean Hill Lane, Vonzell White, Betty Abercrombie, Barbara Hill Cruz, Bertha Cole, and Lillie Hill.
Rosie leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, James Garth of Birmingham, AL; one son, James C. Houle (Von) of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren, Catonya McDaniel (Lonnie) of Birmingham, AL, Tomeka Houle of Clanton, AL, Latarsha Austin Hawkins (Michael) of Clanton, AL, and Greg Browder of Toledo, OH; two sisters, Phyllis Dickerson of Clanton, AL, and Ardean Allen (Bryant) of Los Angeles, CA; and host of other family members and friends. Rosie shared a special bond with her great-granddaughter, Derricka Richard.
