Robert Lee Jones, affectionally known as “Man,” was born March 11, 1965, to Callie Peasant and Robert Lee Peasant. He grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and attended Northwestern High School. He was the best story teller there was. He put 100 on 10 when telling his famous stories. Man didn’t meet any strangers. He retired and moved back to his Roots in Alabama to do what he loved which was horse training and riding, a true stallion trainer.
He met the love of his life, Phyllis Jones.
Robert Lee Jones departed this earthly life on March 2, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Peasant; brother, Willie Frank Jones; and son, Robert Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Phyllis Jones; mother, Callie Peasant of Michigan; children, Alicia and Zoey of Michigan, Tymon (Laken) Avianna, and Rayshan of Alabama; sisters, Jessie Beard of Alabama, Teressa Jones, Priscilla Peasant, Angela Peasant, and Tracey Peasant of Michigan; mother-in-law, Elaine Knighten; brothers-in-law, Tyrone and Tyrell Knighten (Lisa) of Alabama; sister-in- law, Alana Florence (Victor) of Alabama; aunts, Mae West Ziegler, Bernice Spence, Mary Hamilton of Alabama, and Vera Watts of Maryland; bonus children, Troy, Terrence, and Terell of Alabama; and a host of grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
