Pastor Richard Davis, affectionately know as “Doe Davis,” was born on December 4, 1947. He was the 9th child of 13 children born to the late Herman Stanley Davis, Sr., and Adell Wilson Davis in Maplesville, Alabama.
Early in life, Pastor Davis joined the New Convert Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Crawford. He attended the New Convert Junior High School and later the Chilton County Training School, where he was an outstanding football player until he suffered a leg injury that cut his playing short. After graduation, Pastor Davis joined the United States Army and served one tour in the Vietnam War.
On April 4, 1969, Pastor Davis was united in holy matrimony with Ethel Mae Morrow, and they remained devoted to each other for 52 years.
In 1977, in Autauga County, Pastor Davis received his calling from the Lord to become a fisher of men, a teacher of men, a preacher of the word. He accepted his calling without hesitation and began his spiritual quest. For 35 years, he served as teacher, mentor, preacher, counselor, and friend at Mount Olive Baptist Church until death. Pastor Davis also served as pastor at Morning Star Baptist Church for a number of years.
On Sunday, November 21, 2021, at 6:00 AM, Pastor Richard Winston Davis made his triumphant exit from this earth and is now free. No more pain, no more struggles, no more troubles of this world, for he has gone home to be with his Lord.
We will cherish his memories and legacy for years to come. We will hold them close to our hearts always. Sharing in his memories are: his wife, Mrs. Ethel M. Davis; his sons, Rishard (Angel) Davis and Gary Green; a daughter, Tamara Green; three grandchildren, Arliyah, Jorenzo, and Jaylah; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. Pastor Davis had six siblings who will also share in so many fond, funny, and comical memories, Jerry (Clara) Davis, Worradell (Earl) Morrow, Irene Morris, Lynda Terry of Atlanta, Georgia, Leanna (Jimmy) Worthey, and Nina Nix of Maplesville, Alabama.
