REVEREND MARCELLUS TYUS was born to the late Richard and Lucinthia Tyus on November 21, 1946.
He joined Pentecost A.M.E. Church, Verbena, Alabama, at an early age. He pastored Marbury Circuit A.M.E. Church of Marbury, AL, Great Hope A.M.E. Church of Midway, Alabama, and St. Paul A.M.E Church of Hurtsboro, Alabama. He attended the Pentecost Elementary School and attended and graduated from the Autauga County Training School in 1965. He went on to further his education and received an associate’s degree in Theology from Faulkner University in Birmingham, Alabama. He then attended Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL, where he received a Bachelor of Art’s in Business Education. He was a member of the Pride of Jemison/Clanton Lodge #630.
Reverend Marcellus Tyus was joined in Holy Matrimony to Sadie M. Taylor on July 17, 1967. To this union were born two children, Valerie D. Tyus and DeCarlos M. Tyus.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Tyus; mother, Lucinthia Tyus; brothers Lethanial Graham, Roosevelt Tyus, Norman Tyus, and daughter, Valerie Tyus.
He leaves to cherish: a loving and devoted wife, Sadie M. Tyus, a devoted and caring son, DeCarlos M. Tyus (Tammy, girlfriend); three grandchildren, Keyuadia Tyus, Anjerria Tyus, and Stephen Wright (Alexis); one special grandchild, Deshaun Caffee; six great-grandchildren, Kaysen Tyus, Josiah Anderson, Kylie Splunge, Kaycie Splunge, Kassidy Splunge, and Shia Wright; one brother, Bishop Warren Tyus (Elder Hattie); sisters-in-law, Estelle Watkins, Carolyn Miller, and Elizabeth Taylor Davis; brothers-in-laws, William Taylor (Diane), Robert Motley, Willie Taylor, and James Payne; special goddaughter, Vivian Fortson (Jeff); and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends
