MARY ANN LAW was born on April 2, 1943, to the union of Jeff
Law and Florine Brown in Autauga County, Alabama. She grew up
in a large family and was the second of seven children.
She transitioned on May 21, 2023, in New York City while
surrounded by loving family.
Mary Ann accepted Christ at an early age and remained a God-
fearing woman. As a teenager, she attended North Highland
High School in Prattville, Alabama, and was a member of Lilly
Hill Baptist Church. She moved to New York while in her early
20’s where she eventually became a member of the Way of Calvary
Church in the Bronx, New York.
Mary Ann worked in a health care facility for 40 years where she
met lifelong friends. However, there were also challenges, and after
retiring, she would joke that she “spent 40 years in the wilderness.”
She had a good sense of humor.
Mary Ann had a strong sense of family. There were many, many
Sundays spent together with family laughing, telling stories,
watching movies, and enjoying the elaborate dinners she had
prepared. She was a great cook. She also enjoyed traveling,
especially by cruise. Her excursions took her to domestic and
many international locations.
Mary Ann was a caring and kind-hearted person with a beautiful
smile.
She will be dearly missed.
Mary Ann leaves to cherish her memory: her two daughters, Sherral
Law and Jackie Law; three grandchildren, Jewel Hill, Brittany
Bowden, and Brandon Wilson; two brothers, Joseph Law (Bettye)
and Chester Ray (Darlene); and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Florine Law-Ray and
Jeff Law; stepfather, Virgil Ray; grandson, Antonio Wilson; and
sisters, Elizabeth Graham, Marie Ray, Ada Mae Law, and Virgil Ray.
