Mack Arthur Burden, Sr. was born to the late Willie Henry Burden and Alberta Varner on September 2, 1942, in Clanton, Alabama. He accepted Christ at an early age, and he was a devoted member of West End Church of Christ for 30 years. He was also a member of North Green Street Church of Christ in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Mack attended George Washington High School in New Orleans, Louisiana and obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University in New Orleans.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Law- Burden; sons, Mack Arthur Burden, Jr., Julian Pierre Burden, and Mack Anthony Burden; and brothers, Henry Burden, Sr., and Michael Merriweather.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Barbara Burden, and his son, Fabian Burden (Ametria), both of Tupelo, Mississippi; one sister, Cora Burden of Country Club Hills, Illinois; one brother, Frank Burden of Country Club Hills, Illinois; eight wonderful grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Earlene (Charles) Brown of Marbury, Alabama and Sallie Burden of Rolling Fork, Mississippi; one brother-in-law, Jesse Law of Montgomery, Alabama; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Mack was smart; he was an intellectual, intelligent man who was well-spoken. He could converse for hours about football and politics. He was a very hard worker that appreciated his accomplishments in his life. He was a well-respected person, and his friendship was enjoyed by many. He was an awesome father and will definitely be missed.
