Lillie Freeman Obituary

Lillie Mae Sims-Freeman was born on July 18, 1944 to Albert Sims, Sr. And Cassie McCary-Sims in Maplesville, Alabama. After giving her life to Jesus Christ at an early age she joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Maplesville, Alabama.

She matriculated through the halls of the Bibb County public school system and graduated in 1960 from Bibb County Training School. Her desire to further her education led her to Winonah Vocational School in Birmingham, Alabama, with a focus in dental studies.

Motivated to further expand her post secondary education, she relocated to Chicago and graduated from the State Dental College and spent several years working as a Dental Assistant until she felt the pull to serve her community and joined the Cook County Sheriff’s Department, where she faithfully served for over 30 years, until her retirement in 2013.

While living and working in Chicago, she never left her faith and became a dedicated member of Greater Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Michael Runnels.

Her life speaks for her as she is remembered for giving to those in need, be they stranger, family or friend.
