LeeAnna Worthey Obituary

Sister LeeAnna Davis Worthey, affectionately known as “LEE,” was born on April 9, 1931, to the late Brother Herman Stanley Davis, Sr., and Sister Adell Wilson Davis. She was born in Maplesville, Alabama, and was the oldest of thirteen children.

LeeAnna confessed Christ early in life and was baptized at the New Convert Missionary Baptist Church where she was an active member in the choir and other Baptist Training Ministries. She was blessed with a beautiful, anointed voice and was often asked to sing solos at church functions, which she graciously accepted. She and her sisters, Nina Faye and Inell, would often sing on programs at several churches. Their father always enjoyed “his girls” singing.

LeeAnna attended the New Convert Elementary School and the Chilton County Training High School.

LeeAnna married Jimmy Lee Worthey on December 23, 1950. After her marriage, LeeAnna moved to the Campbell Settlement and joined the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church with her husband where she continued her spiritual work as an adult Sunday school teacher, church clerk/financial secretary, president of the Matron Auxiliary, and president of the Senior Choir. LeeAnna took the time to share biblical principles with young ladies that would help them to become women of faith, until her illness disabled her to function in these ministries. In all that she went through, she never complained, and she never lost her faith. LeeAnna and Jimmy were blessed with three sons, Jimmy Lewis, Ronald Leonard, and Redius Delane, all of whom worked diligently with their father to acquire a large estate of land, cattle, and equipment.

In 1962, LeeAnna and Jimmy purchased land from her father, Herman Stanley Davis, Sr., and built a store in the New Convert community. For nine years, the store serviced local communities until it was sold in 1971. LeeAnna was always a partner in all Jimmy’s endeavors. She was truly a good wife and a “Woman of Faith” who loved her family very much.

On February 25, 2023, LeeAnna slipped away in the calm of the evening to a more peaceful resting place.

LeeAnna was preceded in death by her sons, Jimmy Lewis and Ronald Leonard; one grandson, Reggie; one daughter-in-law, Debra (Leonard); parents, Stanley and Adell Davis; four sisters, Inell Mitchell, Margaret Arrington, Marcia Davis, and Irene Morris; four brothers, Herman Stanley Davis, Jr., Pastor Richard Winston Davis, Thomas Edward Davis, and John Wayne Davis, who was an infant when he passed.

LeeAnna leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Jimmy Lee; son, Redius Delane (Evelyn); three stepchildren, Kenny Nix (Bobbie), Brian Nix (Christina), and Kim Nix-Morton (Reverend Rodney Morton); three sisters, Nina Faye Nix, Lynda Terry, and Worradell Morrow (Earl); one brother, Jerry Charles Davis (Clara); granddaughters, Latashia Worthey, Shalonda Worthey-Williams, Marie Worthey, Angela Worthey, Lasabre Denise Wilson, Antrenna Bailey, Lawanda Worthey, and Katiah Worthey; grandsons, Bernard Worthey, Jermaine Worthey, Nepolean Worthey, and Redius Worthey, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Roslyn Worthey; 26 great and 15 great-great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
