Laura Simon Hayes was born on May 25, 1943, in Chilton County, AL, to the late Coon and Essie Simon.
Laura confessed Christ at an early age and joined Beulah Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined Union Baptist Church in Thorsby under the leadership of Pastor Calvin Campbell. Laura served with courage, devotion, dignity, and strength.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Coon and Essie Simon; one sister, Lillie Bell Willis; one step-sister, Willie Mae Simon; brothers-in-death, Arthur Hubbard, Arlee Simon, William Simon, J.K. Simon, David Hubbard, and Leanroid as Prettyboy Hubbard; one stepbrother, Charlie Simon; children-in- death, William Frank Hayes, Alice Hayes, and James Hayes; and three grandchildren.
She is survived by: Her living children: Robert (Tracy) Hayes, David (Diana) Hayes, Cedric (Darlene) Hayes, Cozette (Carl) Mays, Sharon (Reginald) Leverette, and Nikki (Jennifer) Jackson.
