Jo Ann (Wilson) Williams

Jo Ann Wilson Williams was born in Clanton, Alabama to the late Ida Darby Wilson and Matthew Wilson, Sr. She attended the public schools of Chilton County and was a graduate of Chilton County Training School. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Prattville, AL and Grace Lutheran Church in Montgomery, AL. She later attended Kincheon Road Church of God in Clanton, AL.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Henry Williams. This union was blessed with two children. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

She was a graduate of Morris Brown College, Atlanta, GA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. She received her Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from Alabama State University, Montgomery, AL. She taught school in Baltimore, MD until returning home to be near her mother. She worked at Verbena Annex teaching fourth and fifth grade for years before becoming an assistant principal. She remained a loyal employee until her retirement.  

Jo Ann loved her family. She was an avid bible reader. She loved playing cards and bingo. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family. She leaves to cherish her memory two children: Jessica (Tierra) Williams, Clanton, AL and Nadine (Jennifer) Jackson, Tuscumbia, AL; three grandchildren: Yumalette, Faizon, and Rain Lewis all of Tuscumbia, AL; two sisters: Susie Wilson Smith, Birmingham, AL and Catherine Wilson Jackson, Montgomery, AL; one brother: Solomon Wilson, Pinson, AL; one brother-in-law Alphonso Williams, Clanton, AL; one sister-in-law Carol Jean Chappell, Clanton, AL; one aunt Clara Darby, Cleveland, OH. Her memory will also be cherished by several nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
