Jimmie Lee Lanier, known by family and friends as “Boweaver,” passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at UAB
Hospital in Birmingham at the age of 58. He was the son of the late Iola and George Lee.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sheila Gaston Lanier; two sons, Jimmie Lanier Jr. (Summer) of Prattville, Alabama, and Travis Burns of Mobile, Alabama; four daughters, Kimburly Wilson of Selma, Alabama, Khadijah, Pvt. Kiniah, and Hannah Lanier of Plantersville, Alabama; one grandson, Khi Wilson of Selma, Alabama; three granddaughters, Zoey, Maykiah, and Lyric Lanier of Prattville, Alabama; seven sisters, Mae Willie Mathews of Montgomery, Alabama, Mary Caver (Walter), Ola Blackmon, Vinnie Laister (Robert), Clara Tyus (Edwards), Dorthy Smith, and Emma Thomas (Moses), all of Plantersville, Alabama; two brothers, Henry Lanier (Dottie) and Jessie Lee (Betty); loving mother-in-law, Queen Simon of Maplesville, Alabama; one sister-in- law, Marzetta Gaston of Maplesville, Alabama; five brothers-in-law, Willie Gaston, James Gaston, Darrell Gaston, Quardarrius Simon, and Lamar Gaston; and a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
