Harvy Lee Nix was born on August 4, 1934, to Myrie and Jewel Hicks Nix of Maplesville, Alabama. He spent his childhood in Maplesville, Alabama, with his parents and three brothers, Myrie, Jr., Herman, and Robert. He confessed to Christ in his youth at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and later joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church once he married.
He married Annie Lou “Marie” Lanier. That marriage produced three daughters, Betty, Mary, and Evelyn. He had decades of service working for Anderson Electric, Keystone, and ABC Rail where he retired. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling in his pick-up truck, long bicycle rides, and collecting anything that needed repairing.
He passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrie and Jewel Hicks Nix; brothers, Myrie Nix, Jr., and Robert Nix; and daughter, Mary Ann Nix Jones.
He is survived by: his brother, Herman (Gloria) Nix; daughters, Betty Nix Gordon and Evelyn Nix; son-in-law, Reverend Dr. Eddie Jones; grandchildren, Marilyn Nix, Dexter Jones, Carlos Jones, Edkenjunta Jones, and Gabrielle Nix; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
