Gayle Yvonne Payton

Gayle Yvonne Payton was born July 17, 1958 in Birmingham, Alabama.

She graduated from Erwin High School and The University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was predeceased by her parents James Payton of Clanton, Alabama and Marilyn Gayle Rentsch of Danville, Illinois.

Receiving a degree in Computer Science Gayle's career was with The Birmingham News Company in Information Technology. After retirement Gayle moved to Clanton, Alabama to live with her sister who was also her caregiver.

Gayle was an avid University of Alabama football fan and, at the age of fifteen, could quote statistics from games played before she was born. Her beloved Dachshund, Todd, was named after the Alabama quarterback Richard Todd.

Gayle is survived by her stepmother Wanda Payton of Chelsea, Alabama; sister Kristin Calhoun, Clanton; brother Dale (Judy) Payton, Hoover; stepbrother Tim Reynolds of Chelsea; nieces Lauren and Katie Payton, Hoover, nephews Brandon Calhoun, Portland, Oregon; Carter and Cole Reynolds, Chelsea.

At her request there will be no service.
