Anita was born September 17, 1958, to the late Melvin and Vera Varner Rush in Birmingham, Alabama.
After graduating from Chilton County High School in 1976, she attended Alabama State University where she received her Masters degree in Biology and Science.
After graduating she accepted her first teaching position at Verbena High School, after which she moved to Enterprise, Alabama, where she continued teaching at Coppinville Junior High school for 34 years with the last 14 years as the librarian of Enterprise city schools.
After retiring she moved to Warner Robins, Georgia, for a short time before returning home in 2020. Shortly after returning she was added to the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Vera Rush; brothers, James Rush, Johnny Varner, Roger Rush, and William Rush; and grandson, Galen R. Rush.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Vanessa Rush of Atlanta, Georgia; a son, Edward Engram of Enterprise, Alabama; one brother, Marvin Rush of Grove, Oklahoma; three sisters, Mary Frances (Larry) King of Detroit, Michigan, Diane Mason, Rosetta (Michael) Williams of Clanton, Alabama; three grandchildren, Sydnee Rush, Jordyn, and Jakoby Engram; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends, including a very special friend, Mrs. Dorthy Dickens of Pensacola, Florida; caregivers who adored her dearly, Juan Jetta Kine, Katie Collins, and Gladys Harris.
