Evelene Albert was born on December 19, 1950, to the late Johnny Motley and Ona Bell Brown, in Verbena, Alabama. As the youngest of three, most would witness that she was endeared as the baby by both of her loving siblings. Though most would call her Evelyn, many would call her Evelena.
Passionate about sewing and cooking, these two hobbies were truly at the core of her love language.
Evelyn attended the Chilton County Training School until it’s closure, her senior year in high school. At which time she attended Verbena High School, where she graduated in 1969.
At a young age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior, at Shady Grove Baptist Church, in Verbena, under the leadership of the late Reverend J. Cooper. Where she remained a member until marrying Willie Albert, on May 27, 1987, becoming a military spouse.
During her years as a military spouse, she became certified in childcare, providing special tender loving care for the children of single soldiers, with limited support. She often echoed, “The parents have to go when they are told to go, and those babies need someone to take care of them, while their mommas or daddies are gone.”
After Willie’s retirement from the US Army, in 1996, the family relocated back to Clanton, Alabama. At Morning Star Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Michael England, that Evelene and the family became active members. Throughout her years of service at MSBC, Evelyn was a member of the choir, Usher Board, Missionary Board, Kitchen Committee, and served on various program committees. Until her health began to fail, Evelene remained as active as possible, despite caring for her ailing husband.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie, both of her parents, and her bonus son, Reginald Williams.
Evelene’s memories will be forever cherished by: three daughters, Onajuanita (Christopher) Foster, Orlita (Bernardus) Lacy, and Damins’e Albert; one brother, Charles (Danita) Motley and one sister, Johnnie (Morris) Bryant; two sister-in-laws, Bessie Robinson, and Adele (Weldon) Johnson; one brother-in-law, Morris Albert; twelve grandchildren; one Godson, Nehemiah Austin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A very special acknowledgement of love is noted to her son-in-law, Bernardus and her cousin Evaun Sanders for their dedicated love, time, and care during her illness.
On Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 9:15 a.m., in her daughter’s home in Hoover, Alabama, Evelyn answered the Lord’s call, surrounded by loved ones.
