Mrs. Eula Thornton Franklin “Madear” entered peacefully into her eternal rest on Monday, September 12, 2022, in Clanton, Alabama. She was born in Toxey Alabama, on February 16, 1926, to the late Charlie and Alabama Powe Thornton. She moved to Prichard, Alabama, where she met and married her late husband of 67 years, Charles Franklin, Sr.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by children, Charletta Franklin Dailey and Charles Franklin Jr.; and thirteen siblings, Carrie, Tommy, Charlie Jr., Annie, Lottie, Mary, Maggie, John, Spencer, Bennie, Lillie Grace, Bob, and Calvin.
She and her husband were the owners of Charlie Boy’s, and they lived and worked in the community for many years. She was well-loved and well-known for her baking and cooking skills. She was a lifelong member of Holmes Street Missionary Baptist Church. She loved God and the people she was blessed to share her life with.
She leaves to celebrate her life: five children, Russell (Judy), Diane (Calvin Crosby), Rondy (Precellia), Dedrick (Lucinda), and Rosa (Maurice Tyus); thirty grandchildren, thirty-seven great- grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; special friends, Mrs. Bernice Lott, Mrs. Nellie Slone, and Deacon Simon Doss; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
