Essie D (Miss Essie) Austin

Mrs. Essie D. Austin was born on March 9, 1957, to the late Mr. Tollie Austin and Mrs. Catherine B. Varner. She joined Union Baptist Church at a young age where she also directed the Union Baptist Church Choir.

She departed this life on March 8, 2025, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bianca Austin; sisters, Toria M. Austin and Sherrie D. Austin; and a brother, James Austin.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Tanisha Underwood; four sisters, Carolyn Abercrombie, Monica Varner of Clanton, Alabama, Catherine Walker (Will) of Montgomery, Alabama, Adreainne J. Cole of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Tommy Austin (Carolyn) of Clanton, Alabama; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and one special daughter, Yoshekia Ware; and her “Dog Pound”.
