On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, Sis. Clarissa Reed stepped across the threshold that we call death, but it was only a step into another room. It was but a step into one of the other rooms of our Father’s House.
Sis. Clarissa Reed, the daughter of the late Claude and Roberta Smitherman was born December 21, 1947, in Maplesville, AL. She was the fifth out six children. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Maplesville, AL. Upon marrying, she moved her membership to St. James Highland where she was an active member as a doorkeeper until her death.
Sis. Clarissa Reed was a schoolteacher in the Chilton County School System (Adair Elementary) for 32 years and specialized in Reading.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Deacon Eddie Reed.
Sis. Clarissa Reed leaves in memory a loving husband, Eddie; three sisters, Eloise Washington, Miami, FL; Claudia (Nathaniel) Harris, Atlanta, GA; Alberta Autery, Pelham, AL; one brother, Lesley (Annetta) Smitherman, Alabaster, AL; one special nephew, David (Irino) Smitherman, Jemison, AL; Bonus children: Justin (Tanisha) Smitherman, Clanton, AL, JaRay Smitherman, Maplesville, AL and one sister-in-law, Jeanette Smitherman, Alabaster, AL.
Sis. Reed was preceded in death by one brother, Davie Smitherman. She also leaves in memory six brother-in-laws, eight sister-in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews.
