Mr. Carl English Baker was born on June 10, 1952, in Gadsden, AL. He was the second child born to the late Percy and Earline Baker.
He confessed to Christ at an early age at Fountain Chapel A.M.E. Church in Clanton, AL, where he was a member of the Sons of Allen and Choir. He graduated at Chilton County Training School and went on to attend Alabama State University, majoring in Sociology and minoring in Psychology. He was a member of the Phi Eta Psi Fraternity. He worked for and retired from Georgia Pacific after serving 25 years.
He transitioned from this life on Friday, June 16, 2023, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Earline Baker; sister, Linda Baker; and nephew, Eric Baker.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his one daughter, Tameke Davis (Shawn); two grandchildren, Skyler and Isabella; two brothers and one sister, Jackie Baker (Geraldine), Lester Baker, and Teresa Baugh (Victor); aunts, Billie Johnson and Virginia Wester; uncles, George Johnson and Willie Steele; two nieces, Dominique Christian (Kowosky) and Shavonne Baker; three nephews, Brian Conner (Ann), David Conner, and Jason Gaines (LaTasha).
