Bettye Jean Nunn,was born June 14, 1945, in Selma, Alabama, to the late Richard Peoples and the late Mary Lee Bossie Peoples. From an early age, Bettye dedicated her life to Christ and became a faithful member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Jones, Alabama.
In 1961, Bettye united in holy matrimony with the late O.T. Nunn, and together, in 1966, they joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Jemison, Alabama. She served her church with unwavering devotion, fulfilling roles as a Sunday School teacher, missionary president, and secretary of the Bibb County District. She was also an esteemed member of the Eastern Star and a dedicated teacher at the Baptist Convention and Bibb County District.
Bettye’s heart was as expansive as her talents. She expressed her love and care through her floral business, The House of Flowers, her craftsmanship as a skilled seamstress, and her many years of compassionate service as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). She touched countless lives with her kindness, wisdom, and generosity.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and family, cherished by: her devoted children, Otis Nunn (Sarah) of Clarksville, TN, Dorothy Simon (Charles) of Clanton, AL, Jimmy Nunn (Phenicia) of Selma, AL, and David Nunn (Meredith) of Jemison, AL.
Bettye was united in Heaven with her son, William Earl Nunn, who preceded her in death.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren, Lacresha (Carlos), Otis, Jr. (Kady), Steven, Esburn, Jr. (Candiance), Trenell (Ashley), Arishna (Samson), Kalup, Lydia, Jimmy, Jr., Jimicia, and Jimaya. She was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren, Kedrick, Jordan, London, Seth, Ava, Ariel Rose, Jaxson, Star, Esburn III, Zayden, Brice, and Piper. She now embraces in eternity her beloved great-granddaughter, Savannah Joy Nunn.
Bettye was survived by: her loving siblings, brothers, William Peoples and Benny Peoples, and sisters, Carmel Wheeler (Willie) and May Peoples.
Bettye was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Peoples, Jr.
She also leaves behind five sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Bettye also shared a special love for her pet dog, Dudley, who passed away prior to her death.
