Argusta Larkin Obituary

Mrs. Argusta Larkin was born on April 4, 1934 in Verbena, AL. to Sarah Wright and Tommie Cooper. Argusta was the oldest girl of 11 children. Her parents, Sarah Wrighit and step-father Cleveland Wright and Tommie Cooper and siblings: Napoleon, Orell, Betty, Charles, Ruth, Daisy, Jettie, and Linda, all preceded her in death.

Argusta graduated fom Old Kingston High Schoo, in Old Kingston, Alabama - "Class of 1954." After high school, she lived in several states: California, Kentucky, Ohio, and Illinois, where she met and married Mack Larkin on May 2, 1969. To this union her one and only daughter, Beverly L. Larkin was born. The family relocated to Flint, Michigan, in 1972.

Argusta accepted Christ at an early age. She joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, in Flint, Michigan under the leadenhip of Pastor Lewis Randolph. She was a soprano in the S & M Choir, as well as The Flint Citywide Choir. In 2014, she joined Mt. Prospect Baptist Church in Vilia Rica, Georgia, with her daughter, Beverly, under the leadership of Pastor Dr. James E. Potts,

Argusta's first job in Chicago was Steward & Warner Corporation making car odometers. After Steward & Warner, Argusta was employed at the Tootsie Roll Corporation. She went on to work at Buttercup Bakery in Flint, Michigan. Argusta's passion for taking care of people led her to own and operate her own private daycare until 1989. She went on to work for Goss Adult Day Care, where she rematined until she retired in 2009.

Angusta loved drinking her coffee and listening to gospel music, She loved her game shows, with "The Price is Right"& "L et' Make a Deal" being her favorites. She loved playing cards, bingo and traveling with family and friends.

Argusta's greatest joy was being a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her precious girls.

Argusta was very outspoken, never holding back and was not shy about it, but she was always sweet, kind, and loving.

Argusta leaves to cherish her memory and legacy: Her one and only Daughter, Beverly L. Larkin of Douglasville, GA; "Her Pride & Joy" Granddaughter, Aquayla Braswell; "Her Duda" and Great-Granddaughter, Jaliyah Reynolds; "'Her Tinker Poo" of Chicago, IL; two Bonus Daughter: Hope Drakes, and Tracie (James) Bryant; one sister, Ola Mae Perkins of Richmond VA; one brother Marvin Wight of Brandon, FL.
