Alvin Alexander Sawyer was a bright light that God sent to illuminate
the world on May 18, 1967. When God called him home, those who loved him were left with wonderful memories of that light and will carry his
torch, always.
Alvin was born in Worchester, Massachusetts, and went on to live in
several different cities throughout his life with his parents, Zetherina and
Paul Worthey.
He confessed Christ at an early age and attended different
churches throughout his life with his family.
Alvin will be remembered
for his brilliant intellectual mind that led him to voraciously pursue his
education. He received his high school diploma from Jacksonville High
School in Jacksonville, Alabama. He attended the University of South
Alabama, where he earned his Bachelor’s in Business. He didn’t stop there.
Alvin went on to earn his Master’s of Business Administration from the
prestigious University of Texas in Austin, Texas. He was a proud alumnus
who collected memorabilia and participated in alumni events whenever he
could.
Alvin was known for his aptitude for numbers. He enjoyed a successful
career with Kraft Foods as a product analyst in New Jersey. He would later
move back to Mobile, Alabama, and pursue his entrepreneurial spirit,
building a successful consulting business.
A strong, quiet soul, Alvin enjoyed talking about his passion, the Stock
Market. He enjoyed sharing investment tips and analyzing the market for
the next best investment. He was an avid reader and loved to learn. Upon
his death, he was writing his autobiography to share with the world his most
cherished thoughts and memories about his life’s journey and interests.
Alvin was loved by a very large extended family who will remember him
fondly, including his parents, Paul and Zetherina Worthey of Mobile, AL;
brothers, Jeffrey Sawyer and Paul E. Worthey, Jr., both of Memphis, TN;
nephew, Jordan Sawyer of Mobile, AL; nieces, Zamone, Kennedy, and Kelcey
Sawyer, all of Memphis, TN, great-nieces, Jade and Grey Sawyer, both of
